ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County Public Schools (RCPS) will host a dedication ceremony for the newly named Omer “Mac” Long Auditorium at Montevideo Middle School on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
According to a release, the event will “celebrate the lasting impact of music education and the generosity of community supporters who continue to enrich arts learning for students across the district.”
The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a program at 6:30 p.m. featuring performances by the jazz ensembles of Montevideo Middle School, Spotswood High School, and Bridgewater College. The program will include selections of music composed by the donor.
“This dedication reflects our district’s commitment to honoring the power of music and the educators who inspire creativity, confidence, and connection in our students,” said Becky Ford, Supervisor of Fine Arts for RCPS. “The arts are a vital part of who we are as a community and as a school division.”
