ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Rockingham County School Board presented the Annual Special Education Plan and Applications for Federal Funds for the 2025-26 year.  

 This serves as the formal agreement between a local school board and the Virginia Department of Education for applying federal and state laws and regulations governing services for children with disabilities. 

 Director of Pupil Personnel Services Chris Bryant highlighted an increase in the projected funding from the federal, state and local levels. 

“So, thank you for $1.35 million more to meet the needs of students in our school division,” said Bryant.

 Bryant added that RCPS has an 11% of Special Education students in the school division. He said that “Rockingham is on par with identifying students for special needs.” 

 Bryant will ask the Board for approval at the next meeting on April 28th.
