ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham County School Board removed four books from the county schools during last night’s meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Larry Shifflett recommended to retain “Rage”, “Out of Darkness”, “Go Ask Alice”, “The Bluest Eye”, “Beloved”, and “Slaughterhouse Five.”
“Beloved” was one of two books that were kept.
Board member Hollie Cave made a motion to follow the superintendent’s recommendation to retain “Slaughterhouse Five.”
Cave made the motion to remove the four books based on RCPS Policy IIABA.
