ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Rockingham County Public School Board met this morning to discuss a proposed flag and decor policy.
Most board members are intending to pass the newly proposed flag and decor policy at the next school board meeting, but Jackie Lohr is not among them.
Some members raised questions about kindness and anti-bullying posters and whether the policy affected them as well, but Lohr questioned why there had to be a flag and decor policy at all.
However, chairman Matt Cross explained that the main reason for the policy is to increase the patriotism in Rockingham County public schools by putting the emphasis on governmental flags namely the US, state and county flags.
Even among the disagreements, the new policy is intended to pass at their meeting next month.
The Shenandoah County Public School Board instituted a similar policy earlier this month.
