ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue reminds residents to not park within fire lanes.
According to a social media post, parking in a fire lane is always prohibited in order to grant access to fire trucks and emergency vehicles to the structure in the event of an emergency.
The department warns that if anyone ignores the parking rules, there will be a 50-dollar fine that must be paid within 7 calendar days at the county treasurer’s office.
If not paid, the fine may be increased to 500 dollars at the most.
The vehicle may also be impounded.
