PAGE COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — It appears that the Page County man who was charged last fall after a dog was shot to death is apparently off the hook.
According to online records, prosecutors have decided not to pursue the felony maiming charge against Michael Alan Clapper of Shenandoah during a hearing Wednesday morning in the circuit court.
The 61-year-old was arrested last November after authorities conducted a welfare check on a home in the vicinity of Mill Run Road and discovered that a dog had apparently been shot to death.
He was indicted by a grand jury in May.
Prosecutors could bring the charge back in the future but there is no word yet on if they will.
