CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police are assisting in finding a runaway suspect in Charlottesville.
VSP say at approximately 8:13 a.m., a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to make a traffic stop of a Chevrolet Impala on Fontaine Ave. The reason for the stop was an expired inspection sticker. The suspect refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect took the northbound Route 29 exit, and got off Route 29 at Ivy Road . The suspect vehicle then struck two vehicles, and the suspect then fled on foot. The Impala then struck a State Police vehicle. There were no injuries.
The suspect was spotted in the University Heights Apartment Complex. A perimeter was established with the assistance of Charlottesville, Albemarle, and UVA Police Departments.
Around 1:45 p.m, law enforcement received credible information that the suspect was no longer in the vicinity.
The pursuit suspect, Nyeem R. Hill, 19, is described as an African-American male and 6’1 in height. Hill was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and dark pants. A sweatshirt matching that description has been recovered this afternoon in the general area of the search perimeter.
Hill has active warrants from Albemarle County Police for malicious wounding, malicious wounding by mob, and gang activity. Additional charges related to the pursuit are pending from Virginia State Police.
