ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A plea hearing has been set for the Harrisonburg teenager arrested last fall after allegedly tossing a large firework into a crowd in the Friendly City.

Online records show that Grayson Smith will enter a plea in the case during a hearing on June 4 in Rockingham County Circuit Court.

The now 19-year-old Smith is facing two felony charges in the case, including aggravated malicious wounding, stemming from the incident on September 23 of last year.

Smith is accused of throwing the mortar-style firework into a social gathering on South Main Street. One person was seriously injured in the explosion.

Meanwhile, he remains free on bond.
