HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg Public Works is asking drivers near downtown to be aware of a construction project alongside active traffic lanes.
The city says that contractors started installing Phase Two of the Federal Street Shared-Use Path yesterday.
When finished, the path will run parallel to one southbound lane of the street, separated by a three-foot concrete median between East Market and Water streets.
The project also includes repaving, A-D-A accessible ramps, and sidewalk upgrades.
An equipment staging area near the road should not affect normal traffic flow. It will remain in place around the clock as work continues.
Officials say that it should be finished by the end of June.
