HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Community members who live, work or travel along and near Erickson Avenue are invited to attend an open house to review and share feedback on recommended transportation improvements developed as part of the Erickson Avenue Area Study.

The event will take place Thursday, September 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Harrisonburg Public Works, 320 E. Mosby Road. Community members can stop by any point during the meeting to learn more about the study, which will create a new small area plan for the Erickson Avenue corridor and adjacent areas between South High Street and South Main Street. Additional streets include Pear Street, West Mosby Road, Pleasant Hill Road, Willow Hill Road and other nearby public streets within the study area.

“Thanks to your input, we’ve identified several recommended transportation improvements for the Erickson Avenue area, and we are interested in your feedback,” Harrisonburg Public Works Director Tom Hartman said in a release. “We want to know how these recommended improvements to our transportation facilities – roadways, intersections, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, etc. – will better serve you today and into the future. Your feedback will help solidify these recommendations as we work to complete the Erickson Avenue Area Study later this year.”

Community members unable to attend the open house are encouraged to review the recommended transportation improvements online and complete an online feedback form. The form will open on the day of the public meeting and be available through Thursday, October 16 on the study webpage at www.harrisonburgva.gov/erickson-ave-area-study.

Written or oral questions and comments also may be submitted to Public Works Outreach and Communications Specialist Maya Waid by emailing maya.waid@harrisonburgva.gov or calling 540-434-5928.
