SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office is warning of new reports of area residents receiving text messages claiming to be notices of unpaid toll bills.
The fraudulent messages threaten increased fees and D-M-V action if payment isn’t made quickly.
Authorities emphasize residents should not respond to the texts or click the embedded links.
What to know:
-Legitimate agencies do NOT send toll violation notices via text.
-Do NOT provide personal or payment information.
-Report suspicious messages and delete them immediately.
