HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Massanutten Technical Center Executive Board is working out the details of dividing operating expenses and property ahead of Harrisonburg’s departure from the body next year.

At last night’s meeting, the board voted to adopt a budget with Rockingham County covering 71-percent of the coming school year’s operating costs, and Harrisonburg City covering the remaining 29-percent.

Under the terms of the MTC agreement, the 2 divisions agreed to obtain 1 comprehensive appraisal each of the Center’s buildings, equipment, and property by October.

The average of those 2 appraisals will determine the amount that the county will pay the city for its portion of the facility.

Harrisonburg formally leaves MTC in June of 2027.
