ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (Rocktown Now) – The Virginia Department of Forestry says all fires Rockingham County are now contained except for the Capon fire.

In a release D-O-F said the final uncontained fire has now burned approximately 2,500 acres. Their focus will be securing hot spots and all perimeter containment lines. The Department is expecting final containment of Capon soon.

During the last week, D-O-F and partners have suppressed 92 wildfires that burned 12,770 acres.

Over the next few days, DOF will begin to reduce personnel as fires are fully contained. Monitoring and patrols will continue as needed and they say the weather is looking to be in their favor moving forward.
