The event honors the heroic first responders of 9/11 by symbolically retracing the steps they took in service. Students enrolled in MTC’s Emergency Medical Technician and Criminal Justice classes will participate in the climb.
In a news release from Rockingham County Public Schools, MTC Supervisor of Social Studies Beau Dickenson said the event will be a living tribute.
“By symbolically retracing their steps, our students honor their heroism while connecting with the profound lessons of bravery and resilience that mark this pivotal moment in history,” Dickenson said.
Participants will climb the stadium stairs between 1-2 p.m. as a tribute to their bravery and sacrifice, which will create a meaningful opportunity for reflection and remembrance by climbing the 2,071 steps that were within the 110 floors of the World Trade Center.
