Mary Ellen Rohrbaugh, 82, of Bismarck, N.D., a former longtime resident of Rockingham, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.

She was born on February 6, 1942, in Pendleton County, W.Va.

Mary Ellen worked for many years; and retired, as an executive secretary for the VP of Student Affairs at James Madison University. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. She loved family gatherings and all holidays; however, Christmas was always her favorite. She would play Christmas music year-round and begin the countdown to next Christmas once the current holiday had passed.

On August 24, 1969, she married Ronald Webster Rohrbaugh, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2021.

Surviving are her children, Diana Masser of Bismarck, N.D., Stephen Eye and wife, Jill, of Valdosta, Ga., Rhonda Miller and husband, Tim, of Elkton, and Brent Rohrbaugh and wife, Denise, of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Meyerhoff and Martha Tempest, who she joyfully found later in life, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Georgia Kathryn Shrader and Joseph Francis Hobbs, as well as two children, son, Richard Allen Eye, and daughter, Kathryn Ellen Mumma, preceded her in death.

The body was cremated and a funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Reverend Marilyn Heishman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the funeral home.
