Mary Ann Brown, 90, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Bridgewater Retirement Community.
Mrs. Brown was born on June 1, 1934 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Charles Elbert and Olga Lorene Showalter Judd.
She was a dedicated member of Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church, actively involved in the Women of the Church and various Presbyterian Women’s Groups. Her leadership and passion for community service also extended to her volunteer work at Sunnyside Presbyterian Home, where she brought comfort and joy to residents. She was also actively involved with the Dale Enterprise Chapter of the Home Extension Club. In addition to her church and volunteer activities, Mary Ann cherished staying connected with family and friends. She was known for her thoughtfulness, never missing an opportunity to call loved ones on their birthdays and other special occasions. Her warm personality and caring nature created lasting bonds with everyone she met.
On August 18, 1961, she married Wallace Morgan Brown who passed away on July 3, 2019. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage, traveling to all 50 states.
Surviving is her daughter, Michele Dalton and husband David of Rockingham; daughter-in-law, Dianne Brown Reynolds; grandchildren, Bradley Dalton and wife Kelsey, Brian Dalton and wife Katie, Chad Brown and wife Laura Ruschak, Daniel Brown and partner Ashley Stevens, Cory Brown and wife Jazmin, Courtney Brown Leffel; great-grandchildren, Braiden Dalton, Adalynn Dalton, Brynlee Dalton, Maeve Brown, Noemi Brown, Esai Brown; and granddaughter-in-law, Amy Brown.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son, W. Morgan Brown II.
Gerald Harper will conduct a graveside service on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cooks Creek Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church where the family will receive friends following the service.
There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home and the casket will remain closed.
