Martha Templeman Floyd, 92, passed away peacefully at Serenity House in Mt. Solon on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, with her friends and family by her side. Born January 16,1932, in Harrisonburg, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Clark “Bodee” and Clara Belle Painter Templeman.
Martha was raised in Harrisonburg, graduated from Harrisonburg High School and attended Madison College. She along with her family operated Gerundo Family campground in McGaheysville. Martha was a proud and hard-working political supporter of her husband’s service on the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors for over three terms. Martha was active in The Rockingham home extension club, Quota club, and the Republican Women. She loved all her volunteer work.
On September 1, 1951, she married Dee E. Floyd who preceded her in death on November 28, 2014. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Raines; a brother James C. Templeman and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Asha Saluja.
Surviving are a son, Steven Floyd and wife, Debbie of Myrtle Beach S.C.; a daughter, Susan Shewchuk and husband, Curtis of Nellysford; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces/nephews. Martha loved all her family dearly. She will be missed by all.
