Martha L. Herring Philpott died peacefully on March 13, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
She was loved & will be missed deeply by her daughter, Nancy A. Sedwick & son-in-law, Richard E.N. “Dickie” Sedwick, grandson, Richard W. Sedwick & wife, Heather, their children, Charlotte, Elliott, Vivian, & Henry, her brother, Otis F. Herring, many extended family members & friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Mertin D. “Doug” Philpott, her parents Charley Raymond “Ray” Herring & Flora Evaleen “Eva” Custer Herring. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings.

She was born on April 22, 1930 in Eucha, Oklahoma. Martha married Mertin D. “Doug” Philpott on February 14, 1954. They lived most of their married life in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving in April 1990 to be near their daughter’s family in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The things that gave Martha the greatest joy in her life were her family and special friends Betty, Gloria, Edie, Margie, & Dee. She also loved playing card games with family & other dear friends Nena, Roger, Sis, Ed, & Judy. She participated in daily scripture study with Dickie & Nancy.
