Marcia Schuler Lynch (82) died on October 26, 2024. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Schuler and Edythe Branner Schuler of Broadway, VA., born in 1942. She was sister to Kenneth R. Schuler and Ed Schuler.
After graduating from Broadway High School in 1960, she attended Madison College (now James Madison University) for two years. She married E. Houston Lynch in 1962 and moved to Rome, GA., where she obtained the B.A. Degree in Biology from Shorter College. She began a thirty-year teaching career.
In 1967 she and her husband returned to the Valley, settling in Harrisonburg, where daughters, Rebecca (Botticelli) and Janet (Gray) were born. After staying home with her children, she returned to teaching at Montevideo High School for a short time before transferring to Turner Ashby High School where she taught Biology until her retirement.
Marcia was a life-long member of Broadway Presbyterian Church in Broadway, VA. For many decades she sang soprano in the choir. She was devoted to her family and friends, including many retired Turner Ashby High School faculty. Marcia became a consummate quilter. For many decades she crafted and sold hot air balloon hangings.
She was devoted to her five grandchildren: Abigail, Katherine, and Margaret (daughters of Rebecca Botticelli), and Joshua and Anne Virginia, children of Janet Gray. She loved her sons-in-law: Michael Botticelli and Scott Gray.
In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Marcia Lynch can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
A service will be conducted at Broadway Presbyterian Church in Broadway, VA., date and time pending.
