UPDATE: According to Page County Public Schools’ Facebook page, Luray High School has resumed normal operations as the community issue involving law enforcement on Route 211 near New Market Mountain has been resolved. Road closures, however, will remain in place until further notice.
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Luray High School is currently on a lock-in due to an incident involving law enforcement on Route 211 near New Market Mountain.
According to a social media post from Page County Public Schools, the school is in lock-in out of an abundance of caution as the incident is contained to that area. There is no direct threat to LHS students or staff.
The post also stated that students returning from the Governor’s School are currently being held on Route 211 by law enforcement along with all other traffic in the area.
A lock-in means that students will be changing classes as normal, all students will be kept inside and early dismissals or transfers of students for the Tech Center will go as planned and are being monitored by the SRO and school administration.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
