HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Health officials are urging folks to start thinking about a flu shot.

Rachel Dumene, the communication specialist with the Central Shenandoah Health District, explained to host Jim Britt on WSVA’s Early Mornings that a health care provider will generally recommend which shot a person should get.

There are a lot of places you can get different flu shots. However, they are targeted to best protect you against what they’re predicting the flu is going to look like this year.”

This week, the CDC updated its guidelines to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses, such as the flu, and suggests getting an updated flu and COVID-19 vaccine each year.
