Linda Sue Smith, 78, of Elkton, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Smith was born June 12, 1946, in Harrisonburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Howard and Leona Detamore Simmers. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Critzer and Brenda Simmers, and a brother, Leon “Buck” Simmers.

Linda worked for E. A. Breeden in Elkton as Custodian Supervisor. She was an auxiliary member of Gideons International and trustee at East Point Independent Church. She loved watching birds and squirrels, and tending to her flowers in her garden. She was considered “Nana” to many.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Lee Smith; son, Michael Smith and wife, Melissa Ann; daughter, Melissa Allen and husband, C.D.; sister, Sandra Willberger; grandchildren, Byron Allen, Jacob Allen and wife, Morgan, Myles Smith and Megan Smith, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Rick Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and request that those in attendance please wear yellow, as it was her favorite color.
