Leonard Samuel Gittens, 48, of McGaheysville, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024. Lenny was the son of David Henry, Jr. and Judy Elma Price Gittens, of McGaheysville. He was born November 7, 1975, in Houston, Texas.

Leonard resided in the Harrisonburg area for many years before moving to Texas, six years ago. He was a sports fan of Yankees baseball and Giants football largely because of his family’s roots in New York state. Lenny liked both the tranquility of camping and the social aspect of bowling.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Taylor Gittens, Skyler Gittens and Autumn Higgens; two brothers, David Gittens, III and girlfriend, Sara Hanafin and Christopher Gittens and wife, Madison; two sisters, Sherri VanAuken and Marcy Farris and husband, Michael; his partner, Rochelle Jennings; several nieces and nephews; two great-nieces and special friends Susie McKinley, Kim Gittens and Gwen Armentrout.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Gittens; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Elma Price and paternal grandparents, David Gittens, Sr. and Arlene Gittens.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Mt. Olive Brethren Church, in McGaheysville, with Pastor Henry Elsea officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Time of service to be announced at a later date.
