HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia plans to step down from the position by the end of this year.
Chris Kavanaugh announced the decision this week, stating in a news release that his wife will become a U.S. District Court judge next month, which led to his decision to step down.
Kavanaugh says any cases involving his office that might normally be assigned to his wife will be delegated to other judges until he steps down.
He has been the U.S. Attorney for the region since 2021.
