Junior Elwood “J.E.” Bazzle, 98, of Rockingham passed away Friday March 22, 2024 at his home.
He was born July 13,1925 and was the son of the late Reuben “R.F.” and Viola Stultz Bazzle.
J.E. lived most of his life in Tenth Legion, before moving to Lacey Spring. He served in WWII as a Nose Gunner with the 454th Bombardment Group and the 737th Bombardment Squadron. J.E. said “I am still here by the grace of God.” Junior was part owner of the City Tire Co. Junior and Edna hauled milk for Shenandoah’s Pride. J.E. hauled feed for over 60 years as owner and operator of J.E. Bazzle and Sons LLC, where he worked every weekday up until as recently as 2 weeks ago. He was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren an avid Washington Redskins Fan.
On April 5, 1945 he married the former Edna Mae Mongold who preceded him in death on May 1, 2019 after 74 years of marriage.
Surviving are sons, Kenneth Bazzle, Steve Bazzle and wife Karen, Donnie Bazzle and wife Connie; grandchildren, Michael Bazzle, Tara Bell, Laurie Black, Carissa Wyant, Brian Bazzle, Brittany Farley, Sarah Domangue, Megan Petree; nine great grandchildren; son-in-law, Robert Halkowich(Jeanne); sister, Polly Jamison; sisters-in-law, Mabel Dove, Peg VanMeter, Shirley Boland(Dave), Mary Catherine Dove, Ruthie Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant son, Johnnie Bazzle, daughter Judy Halkowich, daughter-in-law, Jackie Oden Bazzle; brother, Walstene (W.A.) “Doc” Bazzle; sister Evelene Biller; sister-in-law, Dottie Couch; brothers-in-law, Junior Mongold, William Mongold, Lyndon Carl Mongold; half siblings, Mamie Frank, Allen Bazzle, Donnie Riggleman.
