HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Every June is a time to recognize and provide care for the nearly 7 million people in America suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and different types of dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Harrisonburg on November 1 to raise awareness and funds for the association. This event is the world’s largest event to fight Alzheimer’s with a goal of raising $145,000 per Walk.

The Walk registration does not include a fee, but participants are encouraged to fundraise to show support. The Alzheimer’s Association suggests people wear purple, tell their story and take action to help show support this month.

Every registered participant who achieves the fundraising minimum of $100 will receive a T-shirt via delivery four weeks prior to the event.

Past participants share their “Why We Walk” stories on Instagram or Twitter included in the gallery by using #Walk2EndAlz and #ShowYourPurple hashtags.

The site opens at 9:00am, following a ceremony at 10:00am with the Walk to follow. All participants, including children, are recommended to register.

For more information contact Alzheimer’s Association’s Coordinator: Lindsey Parnell, 434-329-7927 or email loparnell@alz.org.

This event is located at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads. Begin fundraising before the Walk on November 1, 2025.
