NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison guard Ro Scott picked up Sun Belt Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first weekly award for Scott in her collegiate career, and the second consecutive week a Duke has earned the distinction, with Peyton McDaniel earning the title on Dec. 3.

Scott averaged 19.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game off the bench, leading all players in scoring in both games as JMU moved to 7-3.

The graduate student opened the week with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in a 55-42 win at VCU last Thursday. Then on Sunday, Scott produced a game-high 22 points with an 8-of-15 (.533) clip from the field against No. 4 Texas. The Earle, Ark. native also went a perfect 5-for-5 from the line and dished out a team-best three assists against the nationally ranked Longhorns.

Scott currently leads the nation in total points off the bench (138) and is third in points per game off the bench (13.8).

Up next, the Dukes will trek north for a meeting with Villanova on Sunday, Dec. 15. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. inside Finneran Pavillion.
