NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison outfielder Fenwick Trimble was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Baseball First Team, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The junior earned his second consecutive All-Sun Belt nod, being named to the Second Team last season, as he helped the Dukes to a 32-21 (17-13 Sun Belt) record and the fourth seed in the Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship presented by Troy University.
Trimble led the team in hitting (.374), on base percentage (.453) and slugging percentage (.654) among qualified hitters, while also leading in runs scored (63) and hits (80), second in home runs (14) and stolen bases (16) and third in doubles (16).
Overall in the Sun Belt, the Virginia Beach, Va, native ranked tied for third in batting average, fourth in slugging percentage, fifth in OPS and runs scored, tied for fifth in hits and tenth in stolen bases. When taking only the 30 league games into consideration, he ranked third in slugging percentage (.740) and homers (11), tied for third in hits (49), fourth in runs scored (38), sixth in OPS (1.184), seventh in RBI’s (37), tied for seventh in batting average (.386) and eighth in stolen bases (10).
During the season, Trimble had a pair of 11-game hitting streaks and recorded 17 multi-RBI games and 26 multi-hit games. In league games, he recorded hits in 24 games and reached base in an additional three games.
The Dukes will open play in the Sun Belt tournament on Wednesday, May 22 against fifth-seeded Georgia Southern at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. for an 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT start.
