BOONE, N.C. (JMU Athletics) – After trading goals in the first half, neither team was able to pull ahead in the second as JMU Women’s Soccer engaged in a 1-1 draw with App State during Sun Belt play at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
James Madison moves to 6-3-5 on the season (2-1-3 SBC) as the Mountaineers shift to 5-5-3 (1-2-3 SBC). Senior Jordan Yang scored the Dukes’ only goal of the afternoon, receiving a feed from Jamie Swartz. Freshman Audrey Orrock fired three shots, as Ginny Lackey chipped in with two of her own. App State junior Olivia Simon netted her second goal of the season on the Mountaineer’s lone score on the day.
Sophomore Lili White chalked her fourth consecutive start at goalkeeper, corralling three saves in 90 minutes played.

How it Happened
• The Mountaineers struck first with Olivia Simon finishing from inside the six-yard box to put App State ahead, 1-0, in the 4th minute.
• JMU equalized in the 24th minute, 1-1, with Yang ripping a shot into the top right corner of the net from a Swartz delivery.
• The Dukes found another chance in the 35th minute; however, Ellie Farrell’s shot from the top of the arc was saved.
• JMU had its first opportunity of the second half in the 50th minute, but Aleigha Arndt’s shot traveled wide left.
• App State applied pressure in the 63rd minute, letting off a pair of shots that were off-target and saved.
• The Dukes threatened in the 83rd minute, earning a pair of corner kicks but failing to capitalize on them.
• Within the final minute of the contest, JMU managed to offer a shot and earn a corner, but came up empty as the match finished level.
