ATLANTA (JMU Athletics) – James Madison softball put up four doubles totaling five runs and 11 hits as it defeats Georgia State by a score of 5-2, to earn its first road and Sun Belt Conference game of the 2025 campaign on Friday afternoon at the Bob Heck Softball Complex
Kylee Gleason led the offensive force for JMU (14-20, 1-9 SBC) with her third three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 including a double and two runs scored.
Cali Legzdin also turned in a multi-hit performance with the Dukes’ first double of the day and an RBI single to put an insurance run on the board in the seventh inning.
Pinch hitter Ryleigh Garrett had the only extra-base hit for Georgia State (10-27, 2-8 SBC), an RBI double to center field which made the score 3-1 in the fifth inning.
Payton List earned her fifth win in the circle as she went five innings, giving up two runs on two hits and striking out four.
At the plate, List also went 2-for-4, knocking in a run with an RBI double in the seventh inning.
Kirsten Fleet came on in relief for List in the sixth and threw two perfect innings to earn her second career save.

Fourth Inning
• Abbie Campbell smacked a double just out of the reach of the Georgia State left fielder to score both runners to make a 2-0 Dukes lead
Top of the Fifth Inning
• Reed Butler slashed an RBI single to the opposite to score Gleason from second base to extend the lead to 3-0
Bottom of the Fifth Inning
• Pinch hitter Ryleigh Garrett doubled to center field on the first pitch to drive in the Panthers’ first run of the day
• Chloe Hatcher cut the lead to one on an RBI groundout, 3-2
Seventh Inning
• Following a leadoff double by Gleason, List drove her in with an RBI double to left center to bring the lead back to two, 4-2
• Legzdin singled to left field to score the runner from third base, putting the Dukes in front by a score of 5-2
Game Notes
• James Madison has won four-straight against Georgia State and improves to 5-2 since becoming Sun Belt Conference mates in 2023
• With three hits today, Gleason needs six more to encapsulate 100 in her career
• List matched her 2024 season total of 37 hits with her two hits on Friday, she also matched her multi-hit game total with 14.
• Four doubles in a single game tie the most in a game this season. The Dukes previously had four doubles against Jax State and Robert Morris on Feb. 22 and Feb. 27, respectively
• Raegan Wall and Legzdin each have 11 stolen bases on the season, the most in a single season since Madison Naujokas had 26 during the 2021 campaign
