HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia’s Growth and Opportunity, or GO Virginia, Region 8 Council has announced the addition of four new members to its ranks.
The recent changes come as the Council bids farewell to four longstanding members, who have played pivotal roles in the program’s success over the past seven years.
One of those departing is outgoing James Madison University President Dr. Johnathan Alger, who is heading to American University to become that school’s next president.
Dr. Anthony Tongen, Vice President of JMU’s new Research, Economic Development and Innovation office, will assume his role on the council.
Also, John Downey, President of Blue Ridge Community College, is leaving the council and Dr. Dave Urso, Vice President of Academic Affairs at BRCC, will succeed him.
