NORFOLK, Va. (JMU Athletics) – A goal from Old Dominion in the 64th minute was the difference maker in the Sun Belt Conference men’s soccer regular season finale as James Madison fell, 1-0, on Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

The Dukes dropped to 7-4-6 (3-3-3 SBC) and are winless in their last four matches, while the Monarchs clinched a berth into the Sun Belt tournament and improved to 7-7-2 (3-5-1 SBC).

Redshirt senior Evan Southern and senior Balint Kocso both had three shots to pace the Dukes’ offense. Junior Sebastian Conlon made five saves in goal for JMU.

How It Happened
• Senior Enrique Garcia Barelles fired a shot from 30 yards out on frame but directly at Michael Statham in goal during the 22nd minute.
• JMU forced a corner kick in the 27th minute that was played short to sophomore Luca Nikolai who fired a hard hitting shot that sailed high.
• A turnover by ODU in the JMU attacking third allowed redshirt senior Yanis Lelin to steal the ball with space, ultimately resulting in a saved shot and a corner kick.
• ODU netted the score in the 64th minute as Timothy Ennin took the pass directly from a throw in and scored.

Quick Facts
• It is the first time all season the Dukes have dropped back-to-back matches.
• JMU had an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks.

Up Next
The Dukes earned the sixth seed in the Sun Belt Conference Championship and will play third-seeded UCF at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Huntington W.Va. Marshall earned the second seed in the tournament, earning the right to host the quarterfinals and semifinals on JMU’s side of the bracket.
