HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Bradley Douglas and Justin McBride combined for 43 points to help guide James Madison men’s basketball past Towson, 81-75, on Tuesday night at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.

JMU (3-3) shot 56.5 percent (26-of-46) from the floor and made 12 threes, holding Towson to six threes and 42.6 percent shooting. The Tigers led by as many as nine in the second half, but the Dukes shot 60 percent (12-20) in the second half to come back for the win.

Douglas finished with 22 points and led the Dukes with six assists. McBride collected a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Eddie Ricks III tallied the third double-double of his career with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Cliff Davis pitched in with 14 points, including three 3-pointers in the second half, to spark a rally.

For Towson, Tyler Tejada scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Jack Doumbia Jr. added 15 points of his own, and Dylan Williamson recorded 11 points.

How It Happened
First Half: James Madison 36, Towson 36
• The Dukes connected on five of their first six shot attempts, with seven points from McBride, to allow James Madison to grab a 12-2 lead at the first media timeout.
• After the Tigers drew as close as six, an Eli Wilborn layup followed by a three from Douglas grew the Dukes’ lead back to nine at the under-eight media timeout.
• An 11-3 run earned Towson its first lead of the ballgame; however, a three-pointer from Douglas late in the half made the game even at the break.

Second Half: James Madison 81, Towson 75
• Following a three that gave JMU the lead out of the half, four straight field goals, including two off turnovers, gave Towson a 46-39 lead and forced a James Madison timeout.
• After leading by nine at the 15-minute mark, a 16-4 run consisting of 12 points from beyond the arc allowed JMU to reclaim a 58-55 advantage.
• The Tigers remained within four points for a majority of the half; however, a pull-up three-pointer from Douglas grew the Dukes’ lead to seven with less than two minutes to go.
• JMU drained six free throws down the stretch to put Towson away for its third win of the year.

Game Notes
• McBride finished with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting. His previous high was 19 against Fresno State on Feb. 10, 2025.
• Ricks III finished with 11 rebounds along with a JMU-high 14 points, producing a double-double, the third of his career.
• Through five games, McBride has scored at least 10 points in five and is averaging 12.2 points per game.
• JMU won its first game against Towson in three tries, improving to 38-22 against the Tigers.
• The Dukes made 12 threes, eclipsing double-digit threes for the third time this season.
• Douglas scored 22 points for the second time this season and now has 10 games with 20 or more points in his Division I career.
• Douglas made 6-of-7 three-pointers, the fourth time in his Division I career making six or more threes.
• Under Head Coach Preston Spradlin, JMU is now 10-1 when scoring 80 or more points.
