MONTGOMERY, Ala. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison baseball’s run at the Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship presented by Troy University came to an end on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium as it fell to Georgia Southern, 7-1, in the semifinals.

The fourth-seeded Dukes dropped to 34-23 while the fifth-seeded Eagles improved to 33-25.

Sophomore Mike Mancini led JMU at the dish by going 2-for-3. Redshirt senior Hunter Entsminger had a season-high four strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief.

How It Happened
First Inning
Josh Tate led off the game with a homer on the first pitch of the game, as GS scored two more runs in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Third Inning
A pair of base hits put runners in scoring position, with a groundout giving the Eagles a run for a 4-0 lead.

Fourth Inning
The Eagles led off the fourth inning with a home run to make the score 5-0.

Fifth Inning
A second leadoff homer in as many innings extended GS’ lead to 6-0.

Sixth Inning
GS made it a seven-run lead with a sacrifice fly.

JMU got on the board on a groundout off the bat of junior Fenwick Trimble to make it 7-1.

• Mike Mancini extended his hit streak to 16 games.
