HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison baseball fell in game two of its weekend series with Old Dominion, 9-6, at Veterans Memorial Park in Sun Belt Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Dukes dropped to 15-36 (8-18 SBC) while the Monarchs improved to 20-26 (14-12 SBC).

At the plate, senior Coleman Calabrese went 3-for-5 to lead the Dukes, adding a homer and three RBIs. Classmate Casey Smith got the nod on the mound, going 3.1 innings with four strikeouts, giving up two runs.

How It Happened
First Inning
A two-run homer off the bat of Luke Waters put Old Dominion on the board first with a 2-0 lead.

Fifth Inning
Waters hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot, to push the Monarchs’ lead to 3-0.

Seventh Inning
Old Dominion added four runs to take a 7-0 lead, using a two-run double to begin the scoring before adding a run on a single and then a wild pitch.

JMU responded with a three-run homer from Calabrese to get on the board, making it a 7-3 game.

Eighth Inning
The Dukes drove in a run without using a hit, as freshman Jack Anderson led off by getting hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch and then third on a passed ball, before scoring on a groundout from junior Maddux Fleck to make it 7-4.

Ninth Inning
With the bases loaded, Old Dominion struck for two runs to make it 9-4 on a Kainen Jorge double.

JMU managed to load the bases itself in the bottom half of the inning, as junior Jack Guerrero hit a two-run single to bring the Dukes within three at 9-6.

The Dukes is set for their home regular-season finale on Sunday, May 11 as they conclude their series with Old Dominion at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
