Jerry Lynn Hill, 74, a resident of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hill was born on September 17, 1950 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Oakley Burton and Opal Marie Gladwell Hill.
Showing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of his community, Mr. Hill started his career in law enforcement first in Montgomery County, MD and later with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department. He then transitioned into construction where he worked for years as a building contractor before becoming a project manager for Shenandoah Tower Service. Jerry’s technical abilities then led to him finishing his working career as an electronic technician and special project consultant for Eddie Edwards Signs
His passion for service extended to his spiritual life as well, holding a position on the Board of Directors for Weekday Religious Education, participating in Bible Study Fellowship, and embarking on various mission trips. During his mission trips, he visited Central/South America, Africa and Germany. He also served within the United States with various disaster relief projects. Jerry was a cherished member of Harrisonburg Church of the Nazarene where he was a very active member.
Married June 10, 1972, he shared 52 wonderful years with his loving wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Kauffman Hill who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Justin Lee Hill and wife Ashley, Jordan Lynn Hill and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Kaytlynn, Kaylee, Tyler, Kyrstin, Madelynn, Micaiah, Mason, Miriam; and his siblings , Sandra Ross, and Oakley Hill (Fran).
Pastors Jared Link and Joe Stoner will conduct a funeral service on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Harrisonburg Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at McMullen Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
