SAN MARCOS, Texas (JMU Athletics) – James Madison volleyball fell in straight sets (15-25, 11-25, 18-25) to Texas State on Friday evening at Strahan Arena.

JMU closed the regular season with an 11-15 record and a 6-10 mark in Sun Belt Conference matches. Texas State won its eighth straight, outhitting the Dukes .323 to .111 and improving to 19-8 and 13-3 in conference play.

Olivia Vance tallied six kills to lead JMU, while Melisa Ilter had five kills on 12 attempts (.333). Jaydyn Clemmer finished with 10 digs, and Jordan Smart had 11 assists.

Samantha Wunsch led Texas State with 17 kills at a .484 hitting percentage, only committing two attacking errors. MJ McCurdy had a double-double, recording 10 kills and 13 digs for the Bobcats.

How It Happened
First Set: Texas State 25-15
• JMU slipped ahead 10-9 on a Texas State attacking error but the Bobcats scored on five straight rallies to make the score 14-10.
• The Dukes trimmed the deficit to five (18-13) on a kill from Melisa Ilter.
• The Bobcats scored the last four points of the set and pulled away to take the game in convincingly, outhitting the Dukes .242 to .000.

Second Set: Texas State 25-11
• Texas State outhit JMU .4762 to .138 in the second set.
• The Bobcats jumped out to an 8-1 lead on a kill from Wunsch.
• A kill from Ilter trimmed the deficit to 14-8, but Texas State scored eight in a row to make the score 20-8, and the Bobcats pulled away for a dominating win.

Third Set: Texas State 25-18
• Veldman picked up her fourth kill of the match to give the Dukes a 6-1 lead in the third.
• A kill from Schnell gave JMU a 14-11 lead, but Wunsch and the Bobcats powered ahead 17-15.
• Out of a timeout, Texas State scored four more points to cushion its lead to 21-15 before a service error broke the rally.
• A service ace from Alyssa Clark was enough to close out the Dukes.

Match Notes
• Jaydyn Clemmer finished with 10 digs, the 22nd time this year the libero has eclipsed double digits.
• Texas State now leads JMU 6-5 in the all-time series.
• JMU’s .111 hitting percentage is the second-lowest clip in a match this season (Kentucky, .056)
