HARRISONBURG, Va (Rocktown Now) — James Madison University is going to be recognized for its Virginia Pollinator-Smart Solar certification.
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Department of Environmental Quality and Department of Wildlife Resources will recognize the school next week during a presentation.
J-M-U is the first university in the state to earn a Virginia Pollinator-Smart Program certification.
The presentation will be at 11 am Wednesday morning at the east campus solar facility in front of King Hall.
This state program was developed by Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to encourage pollinator-friendly solar energy development throughout the commonwealth.
Certifications are approved by a review board composed of members from the following organizations: DCR, DEQ, Department of Wildlife Resources and William & Mary.
