CONWAY, S.C. (JMU Athletics) – Payton List notched four no-hit innings as Kylee Gleason and James Madison softball put up its second consecutive double-digit hitting effort to score five runs on 11 hits for the 5-2 win and secure the series against the Chanticleers.

JMU (23-23, 9-11 SBC) took its second series in three attempts against Coastal Carolina (35-15, 11-9 SBC) since becoming conference mates in 2023. It is also the four-straight series win for the Dukes in 2025, a feat not achieved since April 2021.

Lily Romero put the Dukes ahead early on an RBI single, following two stolen bases from Raegan Wall to lead 1-0. Payton List held the game on lock in the meantime, as she mustered up four no-hit innings of work while striking out three for her 10th victory in the circle.

Reed Butler delivered the key hit for the JMU offense, as she punched a two-run double just fair down the right field line to give the Dukes some insurance runs with one out in the top of the seventh.

Kylee Gleason earned her 100th career hit with her fourth three-hit effort of the season, finishing the day going 3-for-3 with three singles.

Cali Legzdin and Wall also turned in multi-hit efforts, each with a double and Legzdin’s aiding in an RBI in the seventh. The freshman Wall has five hits in her last seven at-bats, the longest stretch of her collegiate career so far.

Jasmine Hall and List contributed hits, as Madison Edwards gave the Dukes their fifth run of the ballgame on an RBI groundout.

The Chanticleers threatened in the bottom of the seventh as four consecutive batters reached base, including a two-run single by Georgia Hood to cut the lead to 5-2.

Kirsten Fleet on in relief for List then proceeded to sit down the next three CCU batters 1-2-3 to finish off the game and earn her third save of the season.

Fleet finished the game throwing three innings, allowing two runs on three hits as she struck out three.

Kierstin Roose led the Chanticleers with two of the five CCU hits on the day, as Delaney Keith had the only extra-base hit off of Fleet or List.

Abby Anderson suffered her seventh loss of the 2025 campaign for Coastal Carolina, as she went 6.1 innings while allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out a pair.

Makennah Metzger was called on in relief to get the final two outs in the seventh, as she gave up a run on two hits.
