HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – With rain descending from the sky for the majority of the game, George Mason used five extra-base hits to maneuver past James Madison baseball, 11-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Dukes dropped to 5-6, while the Patriots evened their record at 5-5.
Seven Dukes recorded base hits, with junior Josiah Seguin (1-for-4, run scored) and freshman Ryan Gocio (1-for-3) producing the lone RBIs.
How It Happened
Fourth Inning
With neither team scoring through the first three innings, Seguin connected on his second homer of the year, a 417-foot-long blast over the opposing bullpen, to put JMU ahead 1-0.
Fifth Inning
George Mason took the lead from the Dukes, using a single to score two runs after the first two batters of the inning reached.
Sixth Inning
GMU plated four runs to make the score 6-1, scoring a run on an error, a groundout and a two-run single.
Seventh Inning
The Dukes ended the scoring run with an infield single from Gocio, after senior Wyatt Campbell reached third on a single and two-base error.
Ninth Inning
A grand slam for the Patriots made the score 10-2 before adding another run on a single for a five-run inning.
Up Next
The Dukes will entertain ETSU at Veterans Memorial Park on March 6-8 as part of a nine-game stretch that features eight home games.
