HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) will celebrate its 30th year participating in National Night Out, the nationwide initiative that brings neighbors, law enforcement, and community partners together to promote public safety and community pride.
First introduced in 1984, National Night Out is observed annually on the first Tuesday in August and now involves over 16,000 communities across the United States. The event aims to strengthen neighborhood relationships and foster police-community partnerships to make communities safer, more connected places to live.
Event locations for National Night Out 2025 include:
- Mosby Ct. Neighborhood- 5:30-6:00 pm
- Deer Run Apartments- 6:15-6:45 pm
- VMRC- 7:00-7:30 pm
- Ralph Sampson Park Spraygrounds 6:30-8:30 pm
Each location will offer food or snacks, games, and activities for children, emergency vehicle displays, and opportunities to engage with Harrisonburg police officers, firefighters, and community organizations. Officers will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs at the spraygrounds for those in attendance.
This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with events happening at multiple locations across Harrisonburg.
