HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) arrested a suspect in a sexual offense involving a child.
According to a report by Captain Chris Monahan, on February 2, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m., the Harrisonburg Police Department responded to a home on Devon Lane for a reported disorderly conduct.
While investigating, officers learned information indicating a sexual offense involving a juvenile may have occurred recently. Due to the nature of the allegation, HPD’s Major Crimes Unit was requested and responded to take over the investigation.
Officers located both parties on scene, and Major Crimes detectives conducted interviews as part of the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Yefesi Bahinduka, 35, of Harrisonburg, was arrested and charged with:
- Va. Code § 18.2-61 — Rape: sexual intercourse with a child under 13 years of age
Bahinduka is currently being held at the Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail without bond.
