WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — A 19-year-old Waynesboro man was arrested on Saturday following a high-speed chase on Main Street.

Waynesboro Police say that on Saturday, February 14, at about 1:00 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at high speed two times. The first attempt occurred in the 2600 Block of West Main Street. The second attempt followed in the 500 Block of West Main Street. The driver did not comply with either attempt and continued eastbound on East Main Street at high speed. The vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of East Main Street and North Delphine Avenue. It then collided with a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old man from Augusta County.

The at-fault driver, Trayton Michael Rose, 19, of Waynesboro, was transported to Augusta Health with minor injuries. The other driver was transported to UVA Medical Center with serious injuries.

Rose was initially charged with one count of § 18.2-266: Driving Under the Influence (Misdemeanor). After a subsequent investigation, on February 15, 2026, Rose faced six additional alleged offenses.

  • 2 counts of misdemeanor reckless driving (Va. Code § 46.2-852)
  • 2 counts of felony disregarding signal by law-enforcement officer to stop; eluding police (Va. Code § 46.2-817)
  • 1 count of felony maiming, etc., of another resulting from driving while intoxicated (Va. Code § 18.2-51.4)

Rose is currently being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail.
