HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of the Shenandoah Valley.
This means that the heat index value could be upwards of 104 degrees today. The advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. tonight.
These hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat related illnesses to occur.
The NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Those who work or spend time outside today are advised to take extra precautions.
