HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – In celebration of national Youth Art Month, Harrisonburg City Public Schools will sponsor a Youth Art Month exhibit during March. The show will be on view at the Valley Mall, 1925 E. Market St, Harrisonburg, 22801. An opening reception will be held in honor of the students on Saturday, March 1 from 11-1 PM. The show will be on view to the public from Saturday, March 1 through Monday, April 21, 2025.
The Youth Art Month Show highlights artwork created by students from each school in Harrisonburg City. More than 200 pieces will be exhibited at the venue. Pieces were selected for the show by the city school’s art teachers:
- Jauan Brooks and Kelley Shradley-Horst – Harrisonburg High School
- Kate Duffy, Sarah Waldrop and Tisha McMillan – Rocktown High School
- Joseph Arbaugh – Thomas Harrison Middle School
- Valerie Smith – Skyline Middle School
- Jennifer Cartwright – Bluestone Elementary
- Brooke Imber – Keister Elementary School
- Eva Camunas – Spotswood Elementary School
- Andrew Stravers – Stone Spring Elementary School
- Emily Sheppard – Smithland Elementary School
- Anna Stegmeier – Waterman Elementary School
The public is invited to attend. Harrisonburg City Public Schools values visual art education by offering many opportunities for students to explore and experience art. Visitors to the Valley Mall throughout March will see an outstanding array of media including drawings, paintings, sculptures, fabric arts and digital images.
