HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Harrisonburg City School Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards told the school board this week that collective bargaining is moving forward.
However, Richards explained during Tuesday night’s meeting that the panel that was put together has asked that school officials delay the election of a representative.
“The panel found a bit of a roadblock that is built into the resolution that we put forward, and they’re going to recommend a way of amending that,” Richards explained. “I’m looking over that now, and I will bring that to board leadership very soon.
Incidentally, collective bargaining allows school employees to elect a representative to negotiate with the school division for pay, benefits and working conditions.
