HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg City School Board gave an update on the budget during last night’s meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards announced that Governor Glenn Youngkin made the decision to sign on the education portion and State funding as presented in the budget is included.

However, Dr. Richards said that on the Federal funding side, there are some complications.

“The Trump administration has put forward its budget wishes, I guess you would say, that would go to Congress as Congress puts together its fiscal 2026 budget,” said Dr. Richards. “And there’s significant cuts to Education Title Programs.”

One of these programs that would possibly be removed is Title III, which helps students with English proficiency through federal funding.
