HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg City School Board held discussions on its proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget at last night’s meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards told the board that there is concern over potential losses in federal funding.

“The Department of Education apparently no longer exists for example,” said Dr. Richards. “And so, we wonder about some of our Title Grant funding and where is that going to materialize? Are we going to see that? So, we do want to keep that on the radar.”

The nearly $124,000,000 spending plan is about 4.5% more than last year.

The board will hold further budget discussions at an April 22nd work session.
