HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Public Schools (HCPS) Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards highlighted October being dedicated as Bullying Prevention Month during last night’s meeting.
Dr. Richards said during his comments that HCPS does a lot in terms of bullying prevention with restorative practices.
“That’s where you work toward helping a perpetrator understand the effect that their actions have had. Helping a victim have some closure,” said Dr. Richards.
Dr. Richards added that it’s an involved system and that it takes a lot of training to work through. There are also social and emotional learning activities that students go through.
