HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City school officials continue to discuss rezoning as a means to deal with overcrowding, especially in the elementary schools.
Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards explained how crowded those elementary schools are during a school board work session Thursday evening.
“All of the elementary schools with the exception of Bluestone are overcrowded by a little,” Richards said. “And Waterman is overcrowded by a lot.”
Dr. Richards added that there are two scenarios, including areas zoned for Waterman which could move to Bluestone.
He said there will be a public hearing on the matter at the school board’s next meeting on March 4th.
Meanwhile, The Rockingham County School Board held a special work session on Thursday afternoon.
The vast majority of the meeting was conducted in closed session but according to the agenda, the school board discussed the introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Rockingham County Public Schools.
